We have 13 more dogs to run this series and then we will see who advances to our final 10th Series of the 2019 National Amateur Retriever Club Championship!!

Gun Change - 8th Series - Review

We started Day 2 of our 8th Series - Water Quad with our female test dog "Kelley Lee" and handler, Lori Morgan coming to the line at 6:43 am. Soon after our first running dog #116 "Be" and handler Yvonne Hays started their 8th Series at 6:56 am.

Our gun change happened after dog #20 Lexie and handler Casey Adams finished this test at 9:19 am. We have completed 10 dogs today. So far we had 6 handles and 1 double handles.

In total for Series 8 we have 24 dogs that have completed this test. Out of those dogs we had 13 handles and 2 double handle.

We have 13 dogs left to run. The dogs are completing the test in about 13-14 minutes. So we are looking at just under 3 more hours to complete this series.

Quick Note - Gun Change - 8th Series

We will be having a gun change after dog # "Lexie" with handle Casey Adams. We will be posting our review of the day thus far at that time.

7th Series - Gun Change - Rebird

We had to get some new gunners and more birds out in the field. Our gun change / re-bird happened at 9:58 am and in Gunner fashion, they only took two minutes to compete this task.

We have had one pick up this far and the following announcement...

The Eighth Series will be at the "Libertyville" Test Site. There will be a CARAVAN: All contestants who complete this test will be led by the Traffic Committee to that site. Callbacks will be given at Libertyville. The Eighth Series will comprise a Water Quad.

We are being cautioned that there are blind spots on these hilly roads, so be CAREFUL!

Gun Change - 6th Series - Review

As we are doing a quick gun change lets look at the day so far.

We started at 7:55 am with the first running dog #12. While dog #14 was running her series, the judges noticed an issue with the fence at the back of the test. They delayed the test to fix the problem. It was stated that #14 would have a rerun, however, it was later determined that the judges would score her to the bird. We got back on the way with dog #16 at 8:44 am.

We had our first gun change at 10:46 am after dog #47 completed her test. We got back to the action with #49 at at 10:59 am.We are averaging about 10 minutes per dog to complete this Land Quad test.

About half of our dogs have completed this series. So far we have had 5 pick ups, 3 handles and 1 no bird that will have her re-run after the gun change.

We will be right back with more action from the 2019 NARC in Ronan, Montana!

Thank you for checking out our blog!

Gun Change - 6th Series - Review

Our first gun change of the 6th series is on it's way at 10:46 am!!

We had a very active morning. While dog # 14 was running the judges notice an issue with the test. The stopped the test to fix a fence on the back side that the dogs could get through. Dog # 14 was originally going to get a re-run, however they decided to score her to her bird.

We are averaging close to 10 minutes per dog to complete this test. We had two pick up and one handle.

The next gun change will be after dog #72.

Gun Change - Review - 4th Series

This batch of 20 dogs started with dog #11 - Jack and ended with #38 Chase. We started this 3rd round of dogs at 1:55 pm when Jack came to the line. We started our gun change at 5:20 pm when Blue the Bye Dog came to the line. This set of fine retrievers took about 3.5 hours to run their 4th Water Triple Series.

As it has been all day, the Long Retired still is causing problems. We have had 4 pick ups and 2 handles with this batch of dogs.

This gives a total for the day at 9 pick ups, 7 handles and 1 double handle.

Dog #35 had two No-Birds but came right back for his Rerun.

Our next set of 20 dogs to run with this set of gunners are dog #39 through dog #62.

This will be our last gun change for the day. If time allows us to get through this full set of 20 dogs, we will only have the last 20 to run tomorrow morning. The first running dog will be on the line at 7:00 am!

Gun Change - 4th Series - Review - Weather

Another 20 dogs have completed the 4th Series - Water Triple with an Honor. We started this second group of dogs at 10:18 am and started this gun change at 1:39 pm. We ran this bunch of dogs in roughly 3.25 hours. Our average running time has decreased just a bit to roughly 9.75 minutes per dog.

Due to our last running dog picking up, we did not have to use the by dog, which lead us to getting a jump start on our gun change.

Our second group of dogs (#114 - #10) has had 4 pick-ups, 2 handles and 1 double handle.

We have less handles but more pick ups from our first 17 dogs that have completed this series.

The weather has shifted a bit. Our temps have increased to 73 degrees with partly cloudy skies. The wind still mild, but has increased to 6 mph, and our humidity has dropped down to 44%. There is a 70% chance of light rain to start around 2:00 pm.

We have 60 more dogs to complete this challenging Water Triple.

Gun Change - 4th Series - Review - Weather

We are at our first gun change for the day. Dog #113 has just completed his 4th Series - Water Triple with a Honor.

Our "by" dog came to the line at 10:07 so #113 Brit could honor.

At 7:17 am our first running dog #89 came to the line. We are about 2.75 hours into the 4th series and 17 dogs have completed this series. We are averaging about 10 minutes per dog to complete this test.

Series 4 has some challenges as the first 3 dogs handled. Out of the first 9 dogs, we have a total of 5 handles and 1 pick up. However, with the last 8 dogs not having any handle or pick up issues, one would expect the run time per dog to decrease.

We still have a very mild breeze of 2 mph, but we have warmed up a bit to 60 degrees.

As always are our gunners are making quick work of their switch, so we will be back to the action of the 2019 NARC soon.

Gun Change Schedule for the 4th Series

We have been informed that the gun changes will happen after dogs 113, 10, 38 and 62 for the 4th Series.
