End of Day Recap - 6th Series - It's A Wrap

6TH SERIES IS OFFICIALLY IN THE BOOKS AT 8:14 pm. 12 hours and 19 minutes!

The day started bright and early with dog #12 coming to the line at 7:55 am. We had an eventful busy day at the start. We had a delay at the start after the second dog #14 ran, when the judges noticed an issue with the fence at the back of the test. The quickly got it fixed and we got back and running about 30 minutes later.

We had gun changes after dogs 47, 72 and 107.

The weather, wind, rain and clouds seem to keep the test a challenge all day. We had a total of 15 pick ups, 8 handles, 1 break, 4 no-birds/re-runs.

We will have the callbacks as soon as we get them...in the meantime...this picture explains a lot as we wait to get the callbacks!

A Look at the Rest of the Day

It is now the evening and everyone is confident that the 6th Series will be able to finish today – some time between 8:00 and 9:00 pm – likely closer to 8:00. The judges have gotten a lot of answers with this serious "big dog" land quad with two flyers and two retired birds which is set on the challenging hilly fields of Valhalla.

The strong wind has continued for most of the day although thankfully the rain that threatens keeps sliding by for the most part with an occasional sprinkle but has held off from soaking the spot we are on.

With 54 dogs having run so far, we have seen 7 handles, 12 pick-ups and a break. We have watched some pretty big hunts and also some very savvy jobs by dogs that clearly understood this tough test.

We are told that the 7th Series is planned to be here at Valhalla also although entry might be from a different gate. The scheduled starting time has not been announced but will be posted on the blog as soon as we get it. The starting number for the 7th Series will be calculated after call-backs have been prepared.
