Day 6 - Thursday, June 20 - Recap of the Day

We started Day 6 of the 2019 NARC on the Valhalla ground for the start of the 7th Series Water Blind. We started the series with 45 dogs, with dog #57 "Maya" and handler Alex Washburn coming to the line at 7:25 am. We only had one pick up during this series. We completed it at 12:21 pm with dog #55 "Hudson" with hander Bill Barstow.

We were informed that we would be moving to the Livertyville test grounds and were cautioned about the winding hilly road. We all stayed at the test site for the 7th series waiting for callbacks.

The callbacks got announced at 1:06 pm, with 37 dogs being called back and 8 getting dropped. Once we got this information we were off to Series 8.

We got to the Libertyville test sight for the running of the 8th Series a Water Quad with 2 Flyers, 2 Retired and a Honor. The first test dog was on the line at 2:30 pm. Our first running dog #71 "Giddy" with handler Randy Whittaker started their 8th series at 3:09 pm. When our fourth running dog #87 "Jack" with handler Wayne Carey finished their test, we were put on a weather delay around 4:00 pm. Lightning, sleet, hail and rain shut us down for about 40-45 minutes. We got back running once the weather cleared with our next running dog #88 "Classy" with handler Johnny Armstrong at 4:43 pm.

We have been told by the Field Trial Committee that we will be running through dog #114, "Hawk" with handler Earnest Hawkins this evening and dogs from 116 on are excused.

Hawk finished his test at 7:12 pm and that finishes our day!

We had 14 dogs run the 8th series and so far we have had 7 handles, 1 double handles.

Please remember tomorrow we are back here to finish this series. A single Test Dog at 6:45 am; first running dog #116 "Be" with handler Yvonne Hays at 7:00 am.

Safe travels and we will be back tomorrow with more action and to finish up the 8th series.

Good Night.

End of Day Recap - 6th Series - It's A Wrap

6TH SERIES IS OFFICIALLY IN THE BOOKS AT 8:14 pm. 12 hours and 19 minutes!

The day started bright and early with dog #12 coming to the line at 7:55 am. We had an eventful busy day at the start. We had a delay at the start after the second dog #14 ran, when the judges noticed an issue with the fence at the back of the test. The quickly got it fixed and we got back and running about 30 minutes later.

We had gun changes after dogs 47, 72 and 107.

The weather, wind, rain and clouds seem to keep the test a challenge all day. We had a total of 15 pick ups, 8 handles, 1 break, 4 no-birds/re-runs.

We will have the callbacks as soon as we get them...in the meantime...this picture explains a lot as we wait to get the callbacks!
