A Look At Our Underclassmen - 6th Series

Before this national started we posted pre-National Stats, which were stats of ALL the dogs that entered. Now that we are half way through, we want to take a closer look at the dogs age that are still in the 6th Series. More precisely, what we are calling the "Underclassmen!"

At the beginning of the event we had the following age groups...

"Upperclassmen"
Senior Class - 2009 - 2010 (26 dogs) going into the 6th series we are at 10 dogs
Junior Class - 2011 - 2012 (42 dogs) going into the 6th series we are at 25 dogs

"Underclassmen"
Sophomore Class - 2013 - 2014 (53 dogs) going into the 6th series we are at 30

Freshman Class - 2015 - 2016 (9 dogs) going into the 6th series we are at 1

As you can see, our field started pretty even with 68 Upperclassmen and 62 Underclassmen. As we continue the National, going into the 6th Series we are still about even between the Upper (35) and Underclassmen (31).

So does age or experience matter at a National event?

Out of the 31 Underclassmen running the 6th series, there are 12 dogs that have NOT been to a National prior to this now in Ronan, and 9 other dogs have only been to one National.

Compared to our Upperclassmen dogs, where only 3 of them has NOT been to National prior to here in Ronan, and only 5 have been to one National event.

All of the dogs who qualified, entered and has ran at this event are amazing animals to get to this point in their career, but we just want everybody to notice that we have some strong younger dogs coming up in this sport.

Fun Fact Stat - Does Breed, Color & Sex Matter?

We started this event with 130 entries. Now in the 4th series we are have 97 dogs still competing.

Here is a look at what breed and sex of the 33 dogs that were dropped.

We started this event with 1 Chesapeake Male and he is still in the game, as well as the 3 Golden Retrievers (2 male and 1 female) have all been called back.

So you have probable guessed it...all 33 dropped dogs have Labrador Retrievers!  Eighteen of our original 74 males have been dropped. Sixteen of them being black and two being yellow. Our females have taken a hit as well, losing 15 of the original 52 female Labradors. One of the dropped females was our only chocolate and the 14 others all being black.

Double Headers Entered and Party Info

We had an impressive qualifying year with 5 dogs earning Double Headers. One of them earned back to back Double headers! Please see the list of our Double Header winner who entered the 2019 NARC.
